The Shadow of the Wind.

The Shadow of the Wind is a book by Carlos Ruíz Zafón and it was written in 2001.

Daniel Sempere and his father went to the cemetery’s books without anyone knowing. Daniel chose a book called “The Shadow of the Wind”. Daniel read it in few days and he liked it very much, so he decided to do some research about its writer, Julián Carax.
Gustavo Barceló, his father's friend, wanted to buy that book, but Daniel refused.

Daniel and his father began to have more work and they needed to hire a new employee to help them. They hired a tramp called Fermín. Fermín and Daniel became best friends and they started to research about Carax. Javier Fumero, a corrupt police officer, followed them.

Daniel met Nuria, who knew a lot about Carax, but she did not say anything. When Nuria died, she left a letter for Daniel in which she said that she was in love with Carax, but he was in love with Penélope Aldaya. The problem was that Julián was the son of Penélope’s father, so he did not want them to be girl and boyfriend. Penélope and Julián had a secret relationship. Penelope’s father discovered that Penelope was pregnant, and he shut his daughter in a room. She died with her baby.
Daniel found Beatriz, the sister of one of his childhood friends. They had a coffee and days after, they were in love.  Bea was pregnant, and she escaped. Daniel looked for her, and he found her in Aldaya’s house with Julián Carax, looking after her.

Fumero arrived there while he was trying to kill Carax when Daniel tried to stop it, but Fumero fired at him. After that, Carax killed Fumero.
Daniel woke up several days after in the hospital.

Daniel and Bea got married and they had a son, and called him Julián.
Daniel took Julián to the cementery’s books, just as his father had done.

Shortly after, Bea and Daniel received a novel  by Julián Carax, in which Carax thanked them for everything.

The Prince Of the Mist

The Prince of the Mist is a novel by Carlos Ruíz Zafón. It was written in 1993.

Max was thirteen years old. He moved to another village with his family. When they arrived, his sisters, Irina and Alicia, saw a cat and they decided keep it.

Max’s father said to him that there was family who had lived there before whose son drowned. Max discovered that behind their garden  there was a garden of statues. One statue was of a clown who had its fist closed, and then, it was open.
At night, the family were watching a film when they saw the clown was in it.

Max and Alicia met Roland and they went snorkelling and they saw a sunken boat. The boat had a strange symbol on it.

Max’s grandfather said to Max that there was a magician, Cain, who granted wishes. The old owner wanted a wife, so Cain granted to him one in exchange for their first son.

The boat sank and the magician allegedly died with with all the other sailors.

Max discovered that Roland was the son of the old owner of his house.

Cain returned and killed Roland in the sea.

I liked this book very much because it is mysterious and intriguing.. The story makes you want to continue reading to discover that happens next.

Marta's Hell.

Marta’s Hell is a novel by Pasqual Alapont. It was written in 2003.

Marta was a young girl who was twenty two years old. She moved from her parents’ house to a student’s apartment with two friends, Carme and Júlia.

Carme, Júlia and Marta went to a party with Jofre and they met Hèctor, a young boy who said that he was a law student. Marta liked him, and he liked Marta.

Slowly, Marta and Hèctor started going out with each other.

One night, Marta, Júlia, Carme, Jofre and Hèctor went to a disco. The girls went to dance while the boys were drinking and talking. When they went out of the disco, Hèctor hit Marta and said to her that she was kissing with another boy.

Hèctor begged  Marta for forgiveness many times and she finally forgave him. Both became inseparable.

One day, Marta asked Hèctor about the ring that he always wore. He was very angry and hit her. Marta said to Hèctor that she would never ask him about it again.

Marta bought Hèctor a motorbike because he always said that he wanted one.

At Christmas, Carme and Júlia went home to their families, so Hèctor moved into Marta’s flat. When Carme and Júlia returned, Hèctor continued living there.

Shortly after that, Carme and Júlia were tired of living with Hector and they moved to another flat.

She was pregnant and she was tired of Hector hitting her, so she started to discover more of Hector’s life. He wasn’t studying law.

She decided to escape, but Hèctor left and hit her again. She was unconscious. When she woke up Hèctor was making love with a prostitute next to her.

The prostitute left their house, and Hèctor hit to Marta. She was unconscious again. At that moment, Carme, Júlia and a man knocked at the door. Hèctor went to open the door to dissimulate, but they entered in the house and saw Marta. Carme called to the police and they arrested Hèctor.

Marta's baby was born well.
