Book or film?

Why bother reading a book if it is made into a film after? Films based on books contribute to less people reading. The feelings that we live while reading are very different to those that we experience from watching a film.

Many films are adaptations of impressive books, but films will never be better than books. Few people like books more than films  because you can imagine the characters, the places and more things. But most people, especially teenagers, prefer watching a film than reading a good book. Why? Because reading is "boring" for a lot of people. But I do not  think so: I love reading. What's more, I hate watching a film about a book that I like very much.

Watching a book on the TV kills the imagination. People who read the book before watching the film have already created a mental picture of an environment likely to be different than it in the film. But a person who has already seen the film and then reads the book, does not use his imagination to its fullest, because he knows how the characters are, the places and,  most importantly, he knows what will happen.

The films from books always fall short with descriptions and also leave out important scenes. This is because there is not enough budget and time. These films cannot last for too many hours either, so they have to remove things that can only be found in books. In books you can get to know the characters, especially when the book is written in the first person, with the writer's own thoughts.

Each person interprets books in different ways, depending on their way of thinking or how they are, so a film will be as the director has understood the book.

Good books always have something to transmit or teach, but this you can almost never see in a film.
