Danielle Steel

Danielle Fernande Dominique Schülein-Steel is better known as Danielle Steel. She was born in New York in 1947 and she is an American romantic novelist and author of mainstream dramas. 

Steel started to write storys when she was a clild and in her adolescence she wrote poetry. She has written novels for adults and also "Max and Martha" for children. She has also written four books to "Freddie" about real situations in daily live of children, as the first night out home. She published a book of poetry and the non-fiction books: "Having a baby" and "His bright light". His bright light was dedicated to the life and death of her son Nicholas Traina, who was diagnosed bipolar disorder and committed suicide in 1997.

She has been married five times and is now divorced and she has had nine children. She got married for first time when she was just 18 years and had a daughter. Her husband was a rapist, so they were divorced. Her second husband was addicted to heroin, so they were divorced too.

In 2002 the French gave her of the Order of Arts and Letters for his career contribution to world culture.

In 2003 she opened an art gallery in San Francisco, where she lives, to exhibit the paintings and sculptures by young artists.

Steel has sold more than 800 million copies of her books worldwide. She is the eighth best selling writer of all time and the bestselling author who is still alive. She is the second in The World's Highest-Paid Author, and she earned 35 million dollars last year:

Her novels have been of the New York Times bestseller list for over 390 consecutive weeks and 22 of these have been adapted for television.
