John Grisham

John Grisham is an American writer. He was born in 1955 in Jonesbro, Arkansas, United States. He was known for his judicial thriller novels. When he got his degree as a Doctor of Law from the Law School at Mississipi University, he had devoted to general law for ten years, but he got really tired with the prison law so he changed to civil law.

In 1983 he was elected to the Mississipi Representatives' House for seven years.

In 1984 he saw a twelve years old girl being raped so he decided to write a novel, in which the girl's father murdered a rapist. It took him three years to write this novel, and he titled the novel "Time to Kill". At first, this book was rejected by all publishers.

The day after he finished "Time to Kill", he started to write another novel: "The Firm". It was the best selling  novel  for 1991.

He has continued writting books every year, many of which became bestsellers. "Publishers Weekly" declared Grisham as "the bestselling novelist of the 1990s. He is also the best-selling American novelist in history. During 1990 he sold 60,742,288 copies. He is also one of only tho authors to sell two millon copies of a first edition.
